
Greg Kosmicki, our November featured writer, is a poet whose works have appeared in more than a hundred magazines, including Poetry East, Cimarron Review, Paris Review, New Letters, Briarcliff Review, Pebble, Whole Notes, Connecticut Review, Sojourners, and New York Quarterly. Greg has had 3 books and 6 chapbooks of poems published since 1998, the most recent of which is We have always been coming to this morning from Sandhills Press in Texas. Marigolds is in pre-production at Black Star press in Lincoln.
Greg founded The Backwaters Press in 1998, a non-profit 501-( c ) -3 corporation, which has published more than 60 books, with a concentration on poetry. Books from the press have won numerous awards from the Nebraska Center for the Book, with Aaron Anstett’s collection, No Accident, winning the Backwaters Prize, The Nebraska Book Award for Poetry, the Balcones Award from Austin Community College for the best book of poems in the country that year from a small press, as well as being a finalist for the Colorado Book Award.
Greg has won two fellowships from the Nebraska Arts Council for his poetry. He and his wife Debbie live in Omaha where they are both involved in social work. They are the parents of three mostly-grown children.

Wednesday Words is a new reading series featuring the Nebraska Arts Council's Individual Artist Fellowship in Literature award winning writers.
Join us the second Wednesday of each month (in November it will be on the third Wednesday) from Noon to 1 p.m. to listen to these talented Nebraska writers. The readings are held in the Fred Simon Gallery at the NAC offices.
Readings are free and open to the public.
